Pattern #1: I found all of these articles when I typed specific phrases into Google.

So I went back to Google and tried other key phrases too. I didn't just concentrate on marketing phrases either. I enjoy golfing. So I searched the phrase "best golf courses", and thousands of articles came up. I searched Google, Yahoo and MSN for "Las Vegas", and thousands more articles came up.

No matter what phrase I searched for in Google, I found hundreds or even thousands of FREE articles written by people... who actually knew what they were talking about!

But I still didn't have the answer I was looking for...

What was in it for the authors of these articles? Why were they spending their time writing free articles for you & me to read and enjoy?

Pattern #2: As I looked deeper, It hit me like a tons of bricks!! Most of these articles were being posted on the same article repository websites. These were huge article directories, and these directories held hundreds of thousands of articles...

...about nearly any topic you could imagine.

Pattern #3: I also noticed that each of the articles in these repositories pulled up Google AdWords when your read them. "Ah Ha!", I thought... until I realized that's only helping the article site owners, but it's not helping the actual authors."

So I kept digging...

Pattern #4: And then it hit me smack between the eyes! These authors were were establishing themselves as experts in for hundreds of keywords!

Because the articles weren't blatant advertising, people were reading them from top to bottom and clicking on the link (to the author's web site) at the bottom of the article.

...which usually led to a salesletter of some sort.

And since the person reading the article was already convinced of the author's expertise, the chances were also better that a sale would take place!

• Authors were increasing their website search engine rankings by submitting each article to hundreds of article repositories, which created "back links" to the Author's main web site from these article directory websites.
